| Neve alpina in riduzione, uno studio dell'EURAC |
Ecco alcuni risultati: - circa l'85% delle località mostra tendenze di riduzione dell'innevamento durante questo periodo, più evidenti in primavera e al Sud delle Alpi (versante italiano);
- oltre allo spessore della neve, a ridursi è anche la sua durata: sul versante sudalpino la lunghezza della stagione innevata è diminuita in media di 24 giorni sotto i 1000 metri, e di 33 giorni tra 1000 e 2000 metri, ovvero oltre un mese (all'anno) di suolo innevato in meno. La neve tarda ad accumularsi in autunno e fonde più rapidamente in primavera, a svantaggio di ecosistemi, regimi idrologici ed economia legata agli sport invernali;

| Infographics on Assessement of Climate Change Costs The EU H2020 project COACCH (CO-designing the Assessment of Climate CHange costs) has produced some infographics on its main results. The final objective of COACCH is to produce an improved downscaled assessment of the risks and costs of climate change in Europe that can be accessed directly for the different needs of end users from the research, |

business, investment, and the policy making community. This objective is pursued by working with end users and developing an innovative science-practice and integrated approach of co-design of knowledge and co-delivery of outcomes with stakeholders. |

| Improving water management and resilience to extreme weather events: TEACHER-CE Toolbox just released An integrated Toolbox for a climate-proof management of water resources through sustainable land-use management.
The CC-ARP-CE focuses on the climate-proof management of water-related issues such as flood, heavy rain and drought risk, small water retention measures and protection of drinking water sources. The CC-ARP-CE is an online platform that helps users to identify climate adaptation measures for different fields of actions and various land uses in the water management sector. |

| CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue: The social side of agroecological systems: Farmers’ adaptation capacity Journal: Frontiers in Agronomy (section “Agroecological cropping systems”) |
Guest Editors: Sandra Ricart (Politecnico di Milano e University of Alicante), Julie Ingram (University of Gloucestershire), Amarender A. Reddy (National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management), Nicholas Cradock-Henry and Nick Kirk (Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research).
The objective of this Research Topic is to: (i) bring together new results from research from around the world to provide conceptual methodological and empirical insights into farmers’ adaptive capacity when addressing challenges such as climate change and resource degradation, (ii) provide insights and an agenda for future research in agroecological cropping systems, which incorporate social as well as technical perspectives, and (iii) furnish guidance to policy and decision-makers on how they can enable, foster and leverage adaptive capacities.
We are interested in receiving original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and opinion pieces about all aspects of farmers’ perceptions and behavior in agroecological systems when adapting to contemporary challenges and negotiating conditioning factors. The agroecological systems can be at local or regional scale, from the global north to the global south, also including case study comparison. Likewise, farmers can be analysed as individuals or as community members and stakeholders.
Submission deadline: Abstract (February 2022), Full paper (June 2022) |
